Em came home with a permission slip for a field trip the fifth grade will be taking...AT THE END OF MAY.
I know that I have a tendency to be last-minute about things, but come ON. I can't be the only one who finds having to think about what I'll be doing in seven-and-a-half months from now to be rushing things just a leeeeeeeetle bit too much, right?

We had to sign up for our end-of-April field trip already, but that's because it's a week-long trip, so they have to make travel arrangements/reservations, etc.

Ditto, we're getting set up for Astro Camp already.
Hey, here they already want a first payment for the big class trip in May! I don't think there's any way in hell Matthew could go on a 3 day camping trip in which NO parents can go along, so I'm not paying.
Yeah, but this isn't our big week-long trip (that's next year)...this is a one day deal!
Maybe it's because it seems that all I've been doing lately is going to meetings in which I'm scheduling dates in 2008...and I'm not even sure what I'm doing next week.
